Windows Phone is surely but surely gaining momentum, as its Marketplace is now home to over 40,000 apps, according to All About Windows Phone. By the end of January 2012, the Marketplace should reach 50,000 apps. Over the last 30 days, over 4,500 apps were added, meaning there are at least 150 new app additions per day. What’s the biggest category of apps? Games. Will the increase in apps influence potential WP7 purchases?
One reason why people are staying away from Windows Phone 7 is because they think that Windows Phone 7 doesn’t have very many apps. 40,000+ is a lot, although it doesn’t come close to the amount that iOS has, or even Android. But remember, it’s always about quality over quantity. Looking for a particular app? Chances are that you’ll find what you’re looking for in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
