Update @ 10PM Eastern (12/5): CD-Team has shut down their service, as their “small-scale” testing has completed. Please see the translations of their Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter) posts at the bottom of this post.
A Chinese hacker group called “CD-Team” has been able to fully port Siri to the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G (it simply doesn’t want to work on any of the other devices just yet). It’s a simple Cydia package. The cool part? It works! The installation instructions (very easy) are below. You’ll also find our demonstration video of this tweak below, too.
The requirements are simple:
iOS 5.0 (jailbroken) OR iOS 5.0.1 (jailbroken)
iPhone 4 OR iPod Touch 4G
Basic jailbreaking knowledge
Please read this entire post once (or possibly twice) before continuing.
Also, please note that something can always go wrong; we’re dealing with software. We aren’t responsible for anything bad that could potentially happen to your iDevice. We recommend backing up your current firmware’s SHSH blobs with iFaith 1.4 (see our tutorial here). You’ll be able to do a quick restore should something go wrong.
The overall installation process is very simple and takes just a few minutes to do once you’ve actually downloaded the necessary files.
Add the following repo to Cydia: http://www.cydia.be (if that doesn’t work, then try http://cydia.myrepospace.com/H1Siri/ or http://www.iphone3gsystem.fr/cydia; if none of them work, then download the .DEB file manually below.) – The file is roughly 110MB in size, so it may take a while to download.
Go back to Manage>Sources, and find the added repo.
Reboot your device when prompted.
Go to Settings>General>Siri (refer to the screenshot below step 7).
Flip the switch to On.
If you’re getting connection errors, try rebooting a few more times and it should eventually work, which seems to be the case with most people. For us, it took exactly 8 full reboots before it started working. Your mileage may vary.
Proof that it works:

If you’re having issues with your camera not working properly, then here’s a fix. We were experiencing issues with the camera, and the following fixed it right up. You’ll need to download the below file, and transfer it to /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.dyld/, replacing the old one. Reboot after replacing this file so that it works. IMPORTANT NOTE! We recommend using iFile for this, since you’re going to need to make note of the permissions for the original file so that they’re exactly the same for the new file. For us, it uses the following permissions:
If you’re using SSH, then the permissions are 7133. The file is roughly 85MB.
Let us know how well this works for you. It works for us, and we’re happy. But as mentioned, it took 8 reboots.
Unfortunately, it only worked for a few minutes before it had connection issues. From our understanding, this connects to CD-Team’s (or somebody) servers, and then connects to Apple’s. We’re assuming the initial servers are getting slammed, and should be cleared up once they’re rumored to move to more reliable ones.
There’s know telling whether or not Apple will block this sometime in the future. We’ll just have to wait and see, so let’s enjoy it while we can.
Follow us on Twitter to be alerted of when Siri starts working again, or when we have any updates regarding the server loads.
H1Siri has been shut down since their small-scale testing has concluded. Translation of their Chinese Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter) posts:
“H1Siri no account on twitter! Find where these days are filled with rumors! That the domain name has been deleted, the server has been shut down! After only small-scale testing, focus on development of extensions!”
“We never thought that large-scale open, just like small-scale test server, continue to improve and achieve our thoughts, our code once complete, will consider open-source server-side code, so that everyone can join, complete and expansion siri. Siri official support in Chinese, before expanding to siri add some features, is a very good thing. BS disclosure address the strong friends, after the tests will be carried out within the controllable range.”
