Stefan Esser, aka @i0n1c on Twitter, and the person who created the early iOS 4.3.x jailbreak, has jailbroken his iPad 2 that runs iOS 5.1. The details are quite scarce (tethered or untethered?), but this is a great sign so far. View his images down below.

According to his Twitter timeline, a jailbreak for the iPad 3 could come as early as Monday, although its release could be anybody’s guess at that point.

This could also pave the way for the iPhone 4S jailbreak, and since all A4 iOS 5.1 devices are currently jailbroken via a tethered jailbreak, those devices shouldn’t be too far off.

Will this be the fastest untethered jailbreak ever? Only time will tell, and early signs are making it seem as though that that will be the case.
