The jailbreak scene has been pretty slow lately in terms of new tweaks that are available in Cydia. Fortunately, a new tweak was recently released, and it’s a pretty neat one. Available for $9.99 in the Cydia Store, “Quasar” will allow you to run multiple apps, whether they’re made for the iPad or just the iPhone, all in the same view in their own respective windows. Each window can be resized proportionally, rotated, or closed completely. It seems to work very well, although for $10, it honestly isn’t practical. Check out the video as well as a few screenshots down below.
For my testing, I’ve been using the cracked 1.0.0 version of Quasar. Why? $10 is a bit hefty for a jailbreak tweak, and it’s only reasonable to actually try it before buying it. Version 1.0.1 is the latest, and it fixes a number of rotation/orientation bugs. After giving Quasar a good test, it’s honestly not for me, or anyone else for that matter.
The reason it’s not practical is because the screen size is a bit too small to really take advantage of running multiple apps. At most, you’d be able to run 2 apps without things feeling cramped or pointless. Because of this, it’s uninstalled from my iPad 2.
