If leather is your thing, then Proporta makes many of them (as well as other cases) for various devices that can fit your needs. This slim leather case (for iPad 2/3) retails for £24.95 (Amazon), and was sent out for review.

While advertised with working just for the iPad 2, it also works with the iPad 3. It encompasses a stand feature that works in both the typing position and the movie position. In terms of weight, it’s pretty light. If you’re worried about something happening to the case, Proporta offers lifetime warranties for their products.

The case is much slimmer than many of the leather cases I have used. The leather material used is great for some drop protection and scratch protection, and is strong but, as shown in the video below, it can be a bit flimsy in some areas. Fortunately, the case works with the sleep/wake function just fine.

For cutouts, there are plenty of them. Unfortunately, the top microphone can be covered up by the case itself (as it can move around a bit).

One of the main problems with its slimness is the fact that the case activates the sleep/wake function when the front flap is folded against the back of the case (seen in the video). This happens because the case is very thin and there is not much space between the back of the iPad and the magnets in the front of the case. I have to hold the front flap at an angle against the back of the case so it does not put my iPad to sleep.

For a thin case, I was surprised by how sturdy the stand feature was. It was stable and worked well in the typing position. The movie position takes some work to use because of the case coming apart in the middle (once again, this can be seen in the video).  It was very easy to use in these positions and I did not have any trouble with it falling over or being to unstable to use.

Overall, this case is very thin and great for traveling. However, the issue with the sleep/wake function pertaining to the back of the iPad should be updated a bit. The case is priced right, and with the appropriate fixes, I can see this case being a top competitor on the market.
