[Review] SwitchEasy Nude for iPad 2/3 [Video]

Case

The Nude is a one-piece back cover that measures 1.8 mm thin, so it adds very little bulk to the iPad and makes it is great for traveling. All of SwitchEasy’s cases come with many essential extras, including screen shields, stands, and other components (as listed below). The Nude retails for $29.99 (Amazon) and was sent out for review.

What’s Included

Included with this case are the following:

  • 2 foldable stands
  • 1 cystal-clear screen shield
  • 1 squeegee to apply the screen shield
  • 2 30-pin dock connector covers
  • 2 headphone jack protectors
  • 1 microfiber cloth

The Nude Itself

The case is made from a very durable TPU material that provides plenty of flexibility, which makes putting your iPad in and out of the case easy. Its high-gloss finish attracts a lot of finger prints. The case wraps around the aluminum part of the iPad so there is little worry for bubbling of the screen shield. All of the ports are accessible and easy to use. Nothing is covered or lined up incorrectly. There is no lay-on-the-table design so it is best to place the iPad face up.

In terms of protection, the Nude provides good scratch protection for the back of the iPad. The included screen protector can provide some protection for the front of the iPad. Also, no actual protection for the front of the iPad may steer some people away from this case because it provides minimal drop protection. This simply isn’t a case for those who are looking for protection.

Removing the case is difficult the first time, but after that, removing the iPad from the case is relatively easy. The case will come off after 3 sides are detached from the iPad. The hardest corner is the one with the power button and the volume buttons. This is the corner you should steer clear of when you remove the case. After the first time, switching out cases is a breeze because removing the iPad is easier and manageable.

The included stands work in both portrait and landscape positions. There is only one angle that the stand allows so it is not a great stand overall but it is nice that they include it.

Overall, the Nude is one that I can see myself using around the house. For those that are accident-prone, I would recommend you skip this case because one drop can potentially be fatal. Otherwise, for the price and capability, I can recommend this case for those that want little bulk added to the iPad, want to use it for traveling, and want the design of the iPad to shine through (not covered by a case).
