Plenty of protection for a great price. The Superleggera PRO by Acase, for just $19.95, gives you more than enough protection for your new iPhone 5 without sacrificing much in terms of design. It’s available in several different colors at Acase’s website (Amazon). For this review, I took a look at the black version.

Included with the packaging isn’t much. Inside, you get the case, and a little thank you card from Acase.

Simply put, the Superleggera PRO is a dual-layer iPhone 5 case, which comprises of a silicone layer and an outer polycarbonate layer. Put together, this gives you a high level of protection.

Installation is simple. Simply insert your iPhone 5 into the silicone piece first, and put the polycarbonate shell over it.

This is the first iPhone 5 case that I’ve taken a look at that features small flaps for the Lightning port and the 3.5mm headset jack. This is great, as they can be covered while not in use, thus keeping debris out from those two important ports. There’s also button covers for the volume up & down and power buttons. The silent switch opening is slightly recessed, but large enough for you to easily get into. Oh, and yes, there’s a lay-on-the-table design. The back side of the case has a soft-touch/satin coating to it, which helps prevent it from catching too many fingerprints and scratches. In terms of grip, there’s plenty of it.

My particular review sample has a small issue with the fit, and this problem has also been noted by some who have purchased this case, as pointed out under the “Reviews” section on the products’ website listing. Basically, there’s some room at the top and bottom of the case that lets your iPhone move around a bit. While this isn’t annoying at all to me, I can see why some would be bothered by it. One downside to this is that, at the bottom of the case, you can see the bottom edge of your phone. Don’t worry, because Acase has created a new model that fixes this problem.

I’ve really enjoyed using this case, and given the $19.95 price and various color choices, this is probably one of the best products out there for those who want this type of dual-layer protection for their iPhone 5. Everything is executed quite well, and is probably the only case you’ll need if you want protection without sacrificing too much on the design side of things.
