Protection with style. By X-Doria, the Venue (Amazon) is a great case for the iPhone 5, combining both polycarbonate and rubber to give you style and protection. While a bit pricey at $34.99, overall, it’s quite nice.

Unfortunately, like X-Doria’s other products, no screen protectors are included, which is a big bummer, considering this case has no lay-on-the-table design. As mentioned above, the price of $34.99 is a bit high; $29.99 sounds far more attractive for this particular product.

Looking beyond those two cons, we have the rest of the case. The outside is dominated by a hard polycarbonate, while the inside contains the textured rubber layer. This gives you extra grip, and a fair amount of shock protection for drops. The rubber comes up and sits flush with the display.

In terms of protection, this case gives you plenty of it, without adding too much in terms of bulk. On the left side, we have 2 rubber nubs for the volume button, which gives you plenty of click/feedback. There’s a nicely sized cutout for the silent switch as well. For the power button at the top, the rubber makes the button a little harder to press. At the bottom, everything’s completely exposed, with no protection for the bottom edge of your iPhone. Lastly, on the back of the case, we have a large camera cutout, which gives you no problems with the LED flash.

The polycarbonate, at least for the black version of this case, will scratch and fingerprint quite heavily. This is to be expected with black glossy material, however. I would recommend going for one of the more brighter variations of this case, such as the white-on-silver or lime-on-blue versions.

Not much more could be said about the Venue by X-Doria. It’s a great case all-around, and gives your iPhone plenty of protection while not adding too much bulk and giving it a pretty simple yet interesting design.
