[Review] id America Cushi Band for iPhone 5 [Video]

The best of a basic bumper. Priced at just $10 comes the Cushi Band by id America for the iPhone 5 (Amazon). It’s your very typical and basic bumper for said device, and is practically the same as Apple’s official Bumper for the iPhone 4/4S. If white/clear isn’t to your liking, the Cushi Band is available in 14 other color combinations.

The price? It’s perfect. $10 for a quality and simple bumper is a pretty good price, especially considering that this is coming from a quality company. You don’t get any screen protectors included with your purchase, however this shouldn’t really be expected for something that’s as low-priced as this.

The bumper itself is practically the same as what Apple made for the iPhone 4/4S. It has similar metal button covers, similar cutouts, and an overall similar design. This isn’t a bad thing by any means, and if anything, it’s a great thing.

You’ll be getting metal button covers for the two volume buttons as well as the power button. All buttons are still plenty clicky, and are easy as ever to press. The cutout for the silent switch is a bit small and more recessed than most are probably used to, so it might be a little difficult to get into. There are individual cutouts for everything at the bottom, with the exception of a single cutout for the 3.5mm headset jack and the microphone. As this is a bumper, there’s nothing on the back to talk about. Fortunately, there’s a lay-in-the-table design for both sides of the bumper.

Personally, I love this bumper. Combined with a front and back protection film, this to me is the ideal setup that combines the best of protection and design, while minimizing on any added bulk. For the price, you can’t go wrong with picking one or two of these up.
