[Review] Snugg Squared Skinny Fit silicone case for iPhone 5 [Video]

For $14.99, the Squared Skinny Fit by The Snugg (Amazon) is a very simple and stylish silicone case for the iPhone 5. It offers a fair amount of protection, and is nicely priced. While I took a look at the white case, a black version is also available.

For the money, you get just the case itself, so no extras, such as screen protectors, are included.

The case itself has a squared pattern on the back, which looks pretty neat. Because it’s made of silicone, you can expect plenty of grip when holding the case in your hand. This also helps in terms of drop/shock protection.

Speaking of protection, you have a small lay-on-the-table design. On the left side of the case, we have 2 circular nubs for the volume up and down buttons. These are easy to press, and provides plenty of feedback, which also goes for the power button cover at the top. The cutout for the silent switch is nicely sized, and is easy to get to. On the back, you’ll find the camera cutout, which is plenty large, and doesn’t have any issues when using the LED flash. Lastly, at the bottom of the case, we have one large cutout for everything that’s located at the bottom of your phone.

The particular shade of white is very white. However, after three days of testing, I noticed that the color started to fade just a little bit. I imagine that, after longer periods of use, it’ll fade even more. Another issue, at least with this particular case, is that the left & right sides of the case don’t properly fit around the sides of the iPhone 5; it just sort of sticks out a little bit (as you’ll see towards the end of the review video below).

Overall, this is a nice, quality silicone case for the iPhone 5. Its design and price are both nice, however the improper fit of the sides of the case onto the device may annoy many.
