The Snugg Skinny Squared silicone case (Amazon) for the iPhone 5 is a unique case that offers style and protection. Along with that comes an affordable price tag, overall making the case a good deal. Read on for the full review.
As followers of TTE are probably aware, Brian recently completed his review of this same model case from The Snugg. So, why am I reviewing it again? The Snugg has informed TTE that they have corrected the problem people were having in regards to the sides of the case not fitting correctly. Having requested the same case for my previous tech site, it was only proper to put up an updated review, and here I am today to tell you that this case is much better then the first model, but still a little on the dirty side.
As you can see in the pictures, the case gets quite dirty, as most silicone cases do, but the key annoyance here is that the squares on the back make it very hard to simply wipe off the dust and dirt that it will collect.

The sides problem has been mostly solved. With the first model, I wasn’t the least bit trusting the case to stay on my iPhone while in my pocket. This revised model fixes that problem and with the improved sides, I went about a week comfortably using this case, and after that week it needed a good cleaning.
As for the buttons, they are awesome. The covered sleep/wake and volume buttons press very easily, yet not so easily to where they might be accidentally pressed while in a pocket. The silent switch is also very accessible compared to other cases I have used.
A lay-on-the-table design is very present, going about half a centimeter over the bezel.

Fortunately, the camera does not have any flashback and is very padded around the sides.

The bottom of the case is open, but the continuation of the lay-on-the-table design on the front helps protect one of the more vulnerable areas of the bottom.

Overall, the case is great if you like basic silicone cases and understand that they require a bit more cleaning than plastic or TPU cases, although the white one won’t be much of an issue due to its color naturally showing fewer bits of debris. With the problem with the sides being fixed, I can say that The Snugg Squared Silicone Case is great. It provides lots of protection against drops thanks to the geometric and soft design, easy button access, and a very prominent lay-on-the-table design.
You can find The Snugg Squared silicone Case at TheSnugg.com for $14.99 (Amazon).
