[Video] iPad 3 iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak by pod2g

iPad_3_jb

Thanks to @pod2g, the iPad 3 has been successfully jailbroken on iOS 5.1. All of it was thanks to himself, as well as a number of the usual jailbreakers (minus @i0n1c for obvious reasons). You’ll find the video embedded below. The original link to @pod2g’s blog posting can be found here. He said that he would like to see what he can do in regards to iOS 5.1.1. All of this adds up to the assumption of the jailbreak being released very soon.

New redsn0w will support downgrading for iPad 2/3 and iPhone 4S

Hot off the press! According to a recent tweet by @MuscleNerd, the head-honcho of the iPhone-Dev Team, the next version of redsn0w, a jailbreak software for Windows and Mac OS X, will support downgrading of iPad 2′s, iPad 3′s, and iPhone 4S’s, assuming you have your SHSH blobs backed up. If you don’t know what they are, then there’s still a chance that Cydia automatically backed them up for you.

This is great for those who, for whatever reason, decided to update to iOS 5.1, but would still like your jailbreak. This is currently your only option, as the untethered iOS 5.1[.1] jailbreak is still a ways away, as jailbreak developers are rumored to be keeping their exploits for when iOS 6 is released for a potentially fast jailbreak.

[Jailbreak Tweak] Quasar – Run multiple apps in separate windows [Video]

Quasar running 4 apps at once (Videos, Cydia, Settings, QuickOffice Pro HD).

The jailbreak scene has been pretty slow lately in terms of new tweaks that are available in Cydia. Fortunately, a new tweak was recently released, and it’s a pretty neat one. Available for $9.99 in the Cydia Store, “Quasar” will allow you to run multiple apps, whether they’re made for the iPad or just the iPhone, all in the same view in their own respective windows. Each window can be resized proportionally, rotated, or closed completely. It seems to work very well, although for $10, it honestly isn’t practical. Check out the video as well as a few screenshots down below.

[Tutorial] Carrier unlock your iPhone with SAM – Now just 1-tap!

Update: SAM’s unlocking method now only takes 1-tap to complete! Simply install SAM (instructions below), go to the Utilities tab, and tap on “Attempt Activation.”

For those who want to unlock their jailbroken iPhone, the wait is over. It’s not as easy as installing ultrasn0w from Cydia, but it seems pretty straightforward. The unlock comes courtesy of @sbingner (source). While I haven’t been able to test this out myself (as I’m on AT&T), @MuscleNerd confirmed that this worked on his iPhone 4S for T-Mobile USA. The only real requirement that you’ll need is for your iPhone to be jailbroken. You’ll find all of the instructions below.

One step closer to the untethered iOS 5.1 jailbreak – To be released on Sunday?

iPad_3_jb

Early this morning, @pod2g posted an updated regarding the jailbreak, claiming that the ASLR has been bypassed. According to The iPhone Wiki, the ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization) is a way of randomizing bits of information in the device’s RAM to try and stop jailbreaks and various exploits from occurring. In other words, this is a big step towards the untethered jailbreak. However, there’s still some work that’s left to be done, and also according to @pod2g, as he needs to “ROP the payload.” So, when will it be released?

iPad 3 is jailbroken – Release date unknown

According to @MuscleNerd, the iPad 3 has been jailbroken. It’s a very early jailbreak, and there’ supposedly some more work that needs to be done. Because of this, no ETA is set (how often do we get those anyway?). With the way things currently look, this might be one of the fastest jailbreaks around (in terms of device release dates), which is all good news.

iPad 2 on iOS 5.1 has been jailbroken via @i0n1c – iPad 3 next

Stefan Esser, aka @i0n1c on Twitter, and the person who created the early iOS 4.3.x jailbreak, has jailbroken his iPad 2 that runs iOS 5.1. The details are quite scarce (tethered or untethered?), but this is a great sign so far. View his images down below.
