Windows Phone Marketplace now home to over 40,000 apps


Windows Phone is surely but surely gaining momentum, as its Marketplace is now home to over 40,000 apps, according to All About Windows Phone. By the end of January 2012, the Marketplace should reach 50,000 apps. Over the last 30 days, over 4,500 apps were added, meaning there are at least 150 new app additions per day. What’s the biggest category of apps? Games. Will the increase in apps influence potential WP7 purchases?

Samsung Focus S & Flash launching November 6


If you’re looking to pickup a new Windows Phone 7 device soon, and don’t want to put up with the massive phone that is the HTC Titan, you may be interested in the new offerings by Samsung, which are the “Focus S” and the “Focus Flash”. Both will be available for AT&T starting November 6.

NAVIGON turn-by-turn GPS app arrives on Windows Phone 7


WinRumors has noted that NAVIGON’s turn-by-turn GPS apps for Windows Phone 7 have now been released. The European version is currently priced at $69.99, while the U.S. version is only $29.99. Just like NAVIGON for other platforms, this app will require a large amount of space, as all of the mapping information is stored onto your phone and aren’t being pulled in from online. According to NAVIGON, “on-board navigation entails no data transfer or roaming charges, for example, for route calculation or map displays.”
